It’s called “Trashcan Country” – a raucous, rough-edged twist on twang, dragged through the back alleys of punk, doused in garage-rock grit, and left to dry in the blazing sun. At the core of Honk is their electrifying live show – equal parts hoedown and meltdown – which has earned them support slots with trailblazers like Tramhaus, Delivery, and Being Dead, as well as consistent backing from BBC 6 Music’s Marc Riley and Steve Lamacq. Following the release of their Closing Down Sale EP this past August via Leeds label Shooting Tzars, Honk have continued to make waves with a run of UK and European shows, including Deer Shed Festival, Left of the Dial in Rotterdam, and headline dates across the UK. With an ever-changing motley crew at the helm, they deliver a sound that’ll make you stomp your boots – or knock them clean off. Closing Down Sale expands on the band’s debut Grand Opening EP with tracks like “Last Order,” a cautionary tale for hospitality and service workers, and the rollicking “Low Life Trash.” It’s Trashcan Country in full swing: messy, wild, and impossible to ignore. Currently #6,870 in the BookedDJ global ranking.
