The DJs and producers Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary aka MODESELEKTOR don't really need much of an introduction. Since the early 2000s they have been a duo in the Berlin techno scene, deeply rooted in East Berlin, and many tours later they have become a worldwide established act. In the meantime, the duo Bronsert and Szary became founders of the label Monkeytown Records, which has been a creative convergence in the MODESELEKTOR universe. Not only are they releasing their own music, but also for many other acts in different genres. It is clear that the basis for MODESELEKTOR was friendship and openness, and an eclectic optimism towards electronic music. Whether it was IDM, Hip Hop, UK Bass, Breaks, House and Ambient, MODESELEKTOR dived into everything head first, which gave an interesting variety on the entire music. You can't forget all the features and international producers, musicians and of course their friends. For instance, on their album Monkeytown, you can hear Thom Yorke from Radiohead. Also, MODESELEKTOR collaborated with Tommy Cash, Flohio, Siriusmo, Blixa Bargeld, Iggor Cavalera, Catnapp, Otto Von Schirach, Paul St. Hilaire, Omar Souleyman, Anti Pop Consortium, Miss Platnum and many more. Bronsert and Szary are fused together — they've never actually really done any projects separately all these years. Then came Moderat. This was a project with their best friend Sascha Ring, aka Apparat. When this trio met it opened up a whole new world for MODESELEKTOR. Completely sold-out concerts, arenas: they captured lightning in a bottle. But then, Sascha Ring started his solo project again as Apparat, and MODESELEKTOR needed a well-deserved break. They where scienteist in thier lab conjuring up music , in the best sense of creation. The duo returns to its roots, to the very beginning. With K7! they release the DJ-Kicks Series MODESELEKTOR. While working on the DJ-Kicks compilation, they were able to view their music from a new viewpoint, which put them on track to the new projects. With “Classics Vol. 01” (MTR139 – CV1, derived from Curriculum Vitae , MODESELEKTOR are releasing a special edition that encapsulates the story of their career. With the eight songs, the duo reconstructed their first two albums, Hello Mom! and Happy Birthday! into something new. These tracks were not just doctored from old files but actually completely re-recorded with Johannes Wagner. MODESELEKTOR is announcing Classics Vol. 1 (MTR139 – CV1), the new album, 06th of March 2026, functioning as a musical CV. Followed by an extravagant live concert tour.
